In the spirit of the name of this website, I want to provide you with an additional perspective. In this case…your own.
A lot of the time what you might be missing is what is right in front of you, and all around you exactly where you are.
Ever walk along a familiar route and one day not recognize a certain tree, or house, or other feature? Not because it’s new or different this time, but because you have just never looked up at it.
Most people spend their day walking around with their gaze towards the ground, or at best, eye level. If you consciously shift your gaze slightly higher to the horizon or above, the world becomes new and fresh, a lot nicer, and more appreciated. You notice things on your regular path that you’ve never seen before. Your new view might even instill a little more self-confidence and optimism in your day.
Even better, and likely more importantly, you’ll probably notice and be able to better appreciate the people walking along with you…
Malawi really is a beautiful country, and I always really appreciate the view when I look up as I’m moving around. But I remember appreciating the view any time I consciously looked up anywhere I’ve been.
You may not have an awesome beautiful mountain or landscape in your view every day, but what’s right in front of you, a little bit higher up, is probably better than the 10 or so meters of ground you’re likely used to seeing.
Try out your better view today! It’s easy, guaranteed to brighten your day, and it’s free! ; )
🙂
Consideriing this from a spiritual perspective…especially on days when things are not looking or feeling good on the ground.
Thanks my love
Mama
I love the post! I was thinking about this this week. In Malawi so often I was filled with joy from the amazing landscapes and views. Why I couldn’t have that same feeling back in Canada? Well, I can! And this week going to class seeing the trees with red, yellow and orange leaves, and a bright blue sky, i had an equally amazing view in front of me!
Thanks for the post
